Welcome to DARTS TALKS!
“ “I want to be a dancer!” How many kids utter that phrase with absolutely no understanding of what that means? Over the next few months, we aim to share the experience and expertise of professional dancers, choreographers, agents, and educators to ask one overriding question; what do I WISH that I knew when I started?
Our first article will drop on September tenth and will explore the different types of professional dancers; the world of So You Think You Can Dance, makes it appear that everyone does everything, but that is true only for a subset of dancers. In the real world, different types of dancers lead very different lives. These differences include specialized training, unique job options, different routes to job advancement, and even different locations in the world where one can excel. Our following posts will include interviews and profiles of people already working in each of these fields and give the perspective of performers, choreographers, producers and educators. Transparency is key and information is golden!
Bookmark this page and come back to us on September 10th for that first article and for an open ended discussion. We will start with what we wish that we had known and then open up to continue with YOUR questions. Our goal is to help you navigate this crazy beautiful world of professional dance with the guidance of those who are already there; dancing, sweating, creating, and soaring. “
